How-To: Repair Damaged Drywall
1. Prime
Remove loose brown paper from the drywall’s surface. Smooth edges with fine-grit sandpaper and remove dust with a cloth. Apply a coat of ROMAN PRO-999 Rx-35 Primer/Sealer to the area using a roller or brush. Allow the primer to dry completely.
2. Patch
Once dry, apply a skim coat of joint compound to the damaged area. Use one coat for small repairs and multiple coats for larger areas, allowing each coat to dry fully. Sand lightly and clean the surface before proceeding.
3. Seal
Apply a second coat of PRO-999 Rx-35 Primer to the joint compound. This seals the surface and improves adhesion for paint or wallpaper. Let the primer dry completely.
4. Paint or Wallpaper
Once the second coat is dry, you’re ready to paint or hang wallpaper. PRO-999 Rx-35 is compatible with most high-quality latex paints and all ROMAN primers and adhesives. Always follow your wallpaper manufacturer's specific instructions.
