How to Calculate Pond Liner Size
Measure the maximum length, width, and depth of your pond. Then use:
- Liner length: Pond length + (2 × depth) + 4 ft
- Liner width: Pond width + (2 × depth) + 4 ft
The additional 4 feet provide approximately 2 feet of EPDM liner
overlap on each side of the pond.
Pond Liner Size Example
For a pond measuring 10 ft long, 8 ft wide, and 3 ft deep:
- Liner length: 10 + (2 × 3) + 4 = 20 ft
- Liner width: 8 + (2 × 3) + 4 = 18 ft
The minimum liner size is 20 ft × 18 ft. Round up to the next available
EPDM liner size, such as 20 ft × 20 ft.
Before You Order
Always measure the longest, widest, and deepest points of the pond. Waterfalls, streams, and unusually shaped sections may require additional liner.
Always round up. Extra EPDM liner can be trimmed after installation,
but a liner that is too small cannot be stretched to fit.
