High Flow vs High Head: What's the Difference?
Choosing between High Flow and High Head models depends on your pond's setup. High Flow pumps move a large volume of water at lower pressure, making them perfect for wide waterfalls, streams, or filtration systems with minimal elevation. High Head pumps are built to push water uphill or through longer plumbing runs with more resistance, like tall waterfalls or pressurized bead filters. Not sure which you need? If your system has a lot of height or distance between the pump and where the water returns, go with High Head. For everything else, High Flow usually does the job more efficiently.
PRO TIP
Dial down the flow during cooler months or when your pond doesn't need full circulation. Lower speeds save power and extend pump life, especially in shoulder seasons when demand is lower.
