Surface Preparation: Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from wax, grease, glue, or contaminants. Do not apply over sealers containing stearates.
Bare Wood: Sand with medium grit progressing to fine grit, always sanding with the grain. Remove dust with a tack rag.
Previously Finished Surfaces: Sand with extra fine sandpaper (220 grit) to remove gloss and imperfections. Remove dust thoroughly.
Stained Surfaces: Ensure stain is fully dry. Do not sand uncoated stained surfaces.
Application: Stir thoroughly before and during use. Do not shake. Apply full, even coats in the direction of the grain using a pure bristle or polyester brush, flat pad, spray, or lambswool applicator. Maintain a wet edge on floors to prevent lap marks. Keep area dust free.
Dries to touch in approximately 3 hours at 70°F and 50% relative humidity. Under ideal conditions, allow 6 hours before recoating, though overnight drying is recommended. Lightly sand between coats with 220 grit sandpaper to promote adhesion. Wait 24 hours before light use. Avoid heavy traffic for 72 hours and do not place rugs for 7 days.
Thinning: Do not thin. Use as packaged.
Cleanup: Clean with mineral spirits or paint thinner, subject to local VOC regulations.
Safety: Rags, steel wool, and sanding residue soaked with this product may spontaneously combust if improperly discarded. Immediately place waste materials in a sealed, water-filled metal container and dispose of according to local fire regulations.
PRO TIP
For an even finer topcoat finish, apply an oil-based sanding sealer before your first polyurethane coat. Allow it to dry thoroughly, sand lightly, remove dust, and then apply polyurethane. This step can improve smoothness and overall finish quality, especially on large flat surfaces like floors and tabletops.
